Join the Brush Creek Interscholastic Equestrian Team!
This year's western middle school team and one member of the upper school team qualified to compete at the Zone 7 Finals in April. The middle schoolers advanced to NATIONALS at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.
You know the ribbons and the prizes are great but the friendships and the fun we have had this year have been unreal!
Many of our riders chose to ride on both the english and the western teams this year! We had many new riders who had never competed in either discipline win their first blue ribbons at IEA shows. The english team may not have made it into post season competition but all but one rider, a senior in high school, will be returning so we can't wait to build on that momentum!
Scenes from 2015-16 competition season
IEA is an association dedicated to promoting equestrian sports in middle and high school students (grades 6-12). Participants do not have to own their own horse to be on the team. BRUSH CREEK IS CURRENTLY TRYING OUT RIDERS TO JOIN THE TEAMS FOR THE 2016-17 SEASON.
Riders are judged on their form and technique in their classes, NOT on the horse that they are riding. Riders are also limited to 5 shows per season (August- April). This is an EXTREMELY cost effective way to gain show experience and to be a part of a team! Riders are required to have four lessons per month WITH ANY TRAINER. There are classes for ALL levels of riders from beginners who have never ridden before to the advanced rider with lots of show experience. Brush Creek was one of the first IEA teams to form in Kansas, and the ONLY western team in Kansas, so traveling riders WILL BE TAKEN INTO SCHEDULING CONSIDERATION! You can learn more about IEA at their website here. If you or your child is interested in hearing more about IEA, send us an email! There will be informational meetings held VERY soon!
